Our mission: to produce thin paper in a way that uses fewer natural resources and reduces greenhouse gases emissions, and as a result, to offer outstanding products with excellent print quality that meet the publishing industry’s needs.

It’s hugely important to Bolloré Thin Papers that we manufacture our paper in a way that’s sustainable and environmentally friendly.

We’ve been working towards obtaining various certifications over the last 15 years, in order to demonstrate where our raw materials come from, and that our design processes and manufacturing equipment meets the most rigorous standards in terms of environmental management.

An environmental leader

Considered as an environmental leader and used as an example by others in the field of sustainable development, Bolloré Thin Papers reinforced its status as a pioneer by becoming the first manufacturer of thin paper to:

  • become FSC®-certified, in 2005
  • have Life Cycle Assessments performed, in 2008, to evaluate the environmental impact of its products and reduce its footprint
  • choose its suppliers by how ethical and eco-friendly they are
  • incorporate eco-design into its product development

Further proof of our commitment: we obtained Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification in November 2019. Issued for a three-year period, this label encourages companies to design products in a sustainable way, taking its criteria on the product’s life cycle into account as well as related environmental issues.

Managing where our supplies come from

by controlling the origins of our paper pulp. As the first thin paper manufacturer to receive FSC® certification in 2005, Bolloré Thin Papers adopted a ‘green’ procurement policy, opting to purchase supplies from certified forests where possible, to ensure sustainable environmental management.

Reducing our environmental footprint

by using eco-design strategies from the paper development stage onwards. It’s at this stage that improvements to the product’s environmental profile are the most important and the most effective.

Using ‘clean’ manufacturing processes

by reducing the amount of pollutants discharged into our waters and recycling our solid waste using modern, innovative treatment plants.
